Now Playing: Remembering our friend 'Misha' Lazarev
Our long time friend Michael ('Misha') Lazarev passed away on July 28th. Along with his close friend Slava, Michael was one of our original friends when I started our Fairfield Table Tennis Club in 1996.
Originally an IT professional with Rueters News in New York City, Michael joined us from Greenwich at first, but then moved to Fairfield where he retired and also became a fixture at the Bigelow Center where our Fairfield TT Club is hosted. He enjoyed the Senior Center's morning Table Tennis group too, and the Center'sc Wood-Working group among others.
Of course known for his love of Table Tennis, Mischa was also known for his great smile and contagious love of life, sharing both with anyone open to them.
Like many of our friends he was a valued immigrant American Citizen - in this case from Russia - who really appreciated his opportunities here for career, family, sport, community and friendships and a great life and made the most of them as a great example to all of us who may too easily take them for granted.
Thank you to his wife Irina for so generously sharing him with us, the Bigelow Center and the Fairfield Community which will all miss him so much. Services for him are on Thursday morning at
Shaughnessey-Banks Funeral Home 50 Reef Rd. in Fairfeld
